Deventhar Soosai A/L S Magalingam

        I am a highly motivated individual whose interest in the
English Language drives me to cultivate the proper and correct usage of the language with
all my pupils.

        I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Teaching English as a Second Language during
the peak of the pandemic and have tried my hands with both teaching and lecturing within
my employment period. I am happy to say that nothing pleases me more
than to watch my students be able to perform their best, which in turn pushes me to better
my craft.

        I am a fast learner, hence picking up the work culture as well as verbal and non-verbal
cues from my pupils help me curate my lesson for each class. I also work well on my
own and with a team as my goal is always to excel in my position and career. I do
particularly enjoy sharing ideas and experiences with both my colleagues and pupils as that
helps grow knowledge and comradery.

         My lecturing or teaching style involves honing on all four skills. During my observation
while studying, during practicum and while on the job, I have noticed that a well distributed
learning of the skills enables pupils to not just learn effectively but also make and correct the
necessary mistakes earlier in their learning curve. Outside the classroom, I do enjoy
organizing debates, public speeches, theatre performances and gallery walks as this too
enhances the learning curve of students and allows me to assess their usage of the English
Language beyond the confines of a lecture hall or classroom.
